Wishfart

No, you're not seeing things. That is the name of the show. What exactly do you expect from a show called Wishfart? The answer. One of the most random cartoons ever to come from Canada.

The show centres around a teenage leprechaun named Dez, who has the power to grant wishes using his magic finger. He is also friends with a teenage Japanese ghost girl named Akiko, and a talking puffin named, well, Puffin.  Like I said; random!

Most episodes are about Dez granting a wish that comes true and comes with quite a few consequences. For example, one episode has Puffin wish to always be hungry. The episode then cuts to a thousand years later and Puffin becomes a literal mountain. But there are episodes that stray away from the usual formula. Like one where Puffin invokes the wrath of a Minotaur who sells ice cream after he has the nerve to ask the latter if he can mix flavors.

Dez, Akiko, and Puffin aren't just the main characters. There are a lot more characters who are just as random as the main three. Including Tsuni, a teenage mermaid who works at a comic book store and is also Dez's love interest, Fireball Cat, a talking cat with an actual fireball on of the top of his head who acts like a wise old self-help guru and also runs a noodle shop and has a portal to another dimension inside his mouth, Leslie, a wannabe wizard who I think is suppose to be a nerdy jerky version of Harry Potter, and Dusty, a overly sensitive witch who gets upset everytime someone mentions a witch stereotype to her. And that's just to name a few.

Like I said, this is one random show. And that's why I kinda like it. It's almost like the show's creators just took out random names and things from a hat and made a cartoon out of it. The opening theme doesn't even explain what the show is about, it's just all the characters dancing to the theme music, which I don't blame them for, it is quite catchy, and it ends with Dez, Akiko, and Puffin just jumping on the couch. They should have just called this Random! The series. And I love them for it.

Even the episodes' titles are random. They're actually quotes said in the episode. One episode is even just called "Aw, Man!" and that's it. The episode centres around Dez finding out that there's an anti-Dez group which consists of a bunch of people he granted wishes to and they all backfired and they blame Dez for them. Their leader is a yeti who wished for unlimited ice cream but is now sick of it after he finds out that he's lactose intolerant. Yet, you wouldn't know that from the title. It's almost like they want the plot of the episode to be a surprise. And it kinda works.

Here's a list of what I think are some of the oddest episodes the show has ever made:

1. Chopstick Jab: The gang move their couch just by a few inches. In doing so, they unleash a demon who lets out a gas that causes people to act greedy. Sound like something out of a very odd episode of The Twilight Zone.

 2. Baby...Seal...Thingy: Akiko gets stuck with a baby seal who thinks she's its mother. Akiko then wishes the seal was big enough to take care of itself. But the wish backfires, as usual, as the seal get bigger but still acts like a baby. And then it somehow ends up becoming mayor. That defiantly came out of nowhere.

3.  Hot Spicy Breath: This episode plays out like a zombie apocalypse movie. Except instead of zombies, they are attacked by giant living gingerbread men. Don't ask.

4. Chopped Salad: The gang get trapped inside a cursed salad truck. And that's pretty much it.

In conclusion, everything about Wishfart can be describe with one word; random. The characters, the plots, and even the titles are just, well, random. But that can be a good thing as it makes you wonder what they are planning to do next.

9/10.
